Neshoba General Joins The Cerner Community Works Family
General
Neshoba General has selected Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, to implement an integrated electronic health record (EHR) and revenue cycle management system across its acute, ambulatory and nursing home facilities. Neshoba General will leverage the Cerner Community Works deployment and support model, a prescriptive and cloud-based IT platform tailored to support community health care organizations that provide care to rural communities.
"We are very excited to be collaborating with Cerner," said Lee McCall, CEO, Neshoba General. "Our goal was to select the best system for our needs. I am confident that Cerner's integrated EHR system, multifaceted analytics, and leadership in population health will help Neshoba to achieve strategic effectiveness and advancement of our mission in this new era of health care."
Neshoba General will transition to the Cerner Millennium ® EHR, a health care IT platform designed to support an individual's health care journey across the continuum - from the doctor's office to the hospital and nursing home - with consistent patient engagement. The Cerner Millennium EHR system will provide Neshoba General physicians with an integrated digital record of their patients' health history, including clinical and financial data.
"Neshoba General's new relationship with Cerner is a huge win for our organization, our patients and our community," said Heather Nelson, RN, director of clinical informatics, Neshoba General. "We are excited to watch our organization grow and become more efficient while leveraging technology through the power of Cerner."
The solution's interoperability capabilities aid in the transfer of patient data between health systems across the country. Interoperability functionality supports physicians in having a comprehensive view of a patient's full health history, regardless of where care is delivered, which helps physicians make more informed care decisions.
"We are excited to begin this journey with Neshoba General to provide their community with high-quality, convenient care," said Michael Farrell, vice president, Community Works, Cerner. "The Cerner CommunityWorks family is committed to supporting the people of Neshoba County and the financial viability of Neshoba General."
Neshoba General will now be able to integrate clinical and financial information into one patient record with the Cerner Millennium EHR and revenue cycle management platform. Cerner's Clinically Driven Revenue Cycle™ is designed to provide clinicians and staff with the resources to update the billing process throughout the patient's visit, enhance clinical documentation to help improve reimbursement and limit claims errors. Neshoba General patients will benefit by having a streamlined financial experience.
"In evaluating EHR systems, Cerner was the best fit for our organization," said Scott McNair, chief financial officer, Neshoba General. "The reporting capabilities will greatly enhance our accounting workflow, and having every department on a single platform will, hopefully, improve our revenue cycle performance."
