Coder
Job Summary: Employee will be accountable for conversion of diagnoses and treatment procedures into codes using an international classification of diseases. The position requires skill in the sequencing of diagnoses/procedures to optimize reimbursement. Employee ensures records are coded in an accurate and timely manner.
Minimum Requirements:
- Knowledge of medical terminology normally acquired through completion of an accredited Health Information Technology program and/or previous work experience.
- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to utilize current technologies.
- Knowledge of coding/abstraction and ability to follow CCI edits, ICD-10 and other required guidelines.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills in order to acquire needed information and maintain cooperative work relationships with physicians and other providers.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, AAPC with a minimum of two years previous experience preferred.
- Successful completion of a HIM Program or equivalent work experience preferred.
